Dr Hanelie Adendorff is a senior advisor in the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Stellenbosch University, where she works in the area of academic professional development. She holds a PhD in Chemistry and has been involved in higher education teaching and learning development since 2002. Her early work focused on blended learning and the use of educational technologies, and has since expanded to include assessment, collaborative learning, science education, academic staff development, and curriculum renewal. More recently, her work has engaged with the decolonisation of the science curriculum and the implications of generative AI for teaching, learning and assessment in higher education. Across these areas, her scholarship and practice are concerned with creating meaningful learning opportunities, supporting academics in reflective curriculum and assessment design, and strengthening students’ access to disciplinary knowledge and participation.
